ABOUT

- An exploration of the traditional Japanese "female spiritual anchor" and its modern interpretation -

In his mid- teens, Moriyama experienced the loss of his mother, leaving a huge hole in his heart. In the midst of this loss, he discovered the meaning and spirit embedded in Japanese portraits of beautiful women and the Manyoshu, as well as the entertainment items that surrounded them at the time .

The theme of the collection is the " heart gap " born from her own experiences and observations of modern women in their 20s and 30s , and the projection of awareness in modern society. It spreads from poetry to paintings, to dresses, accessories, and three-dimensional floral decorations, and the dresses only " bloom " when worn by someone. This process itself is a major characteristic of Karen Moriyama 's creations.

From the memories of my parents taking me there as a child, I learned about traditional crafts such as Arima baskets and washi paper from my hometown of Hyogo Prefecture, Sugihara paper,
His relationship with the artisans who support it, his unique creations using candlelight, etc.
Romanticism, which connects with memory and the heart, is an important element of the brand, and the ability to sense the "human warmth" of any era is the core of its creations.

The dresses are designed using three-dimensional cutting techniques that create a visually tactile feel, combining a modern and cute form with details inspired by " tebana" (hand-drawn flower ) which is the brand's identity, Japanese flowers, flower baskets, and beautiful women paintings which have long been considered a source of comfort in Japan, as well as paintings by Moriyama himself.

Every dress and product is imbued with the creativity and warmth of handcraft.
For people of all ages, who are struggling with moments of loneliness and trying to move forward,
It quietly but surely delivers a truly human message.
